A lot of consideration went into naming our shop Honest Tom’s. Instead of naming it after the owners, Matt or Pat, like other independent shop operatiors. We wanted the name to reflect our ideals and ethics.

So Why Honest Tom's instead of Honest Bob? Well, Tom sounds better! It also hits closer to home for Matt, one of the owners. Matt's late father was named Tom, and in his lifetime had earned the nickname honest Tom from his friends and business associates. This was earned primarily by his forthright nature and tendency toward bluntness. This trait was passed down to Matt, who also thankfully, tempered by his mother's influence, has a gentleness and northeastern temperament.

To honor both his parents Matt chose to name the shop after his father, it didn’t hurt that his father in law is also a Tom. But the honoring of his father doesn’t end at the naming of the shop. A credo that Tom lived by is “What’s right is what is right and just do the next right thing.” A simple guide to bringing honesty to the auto repair industry.
